One of the oldest historical buildings of Pszczyna, and the oldest one of the palace complex, which was preserved unchanged, is “Brama Wybrańców”, erected in the late Renaissance style in 1687 which is confirmed by the relief chronogram above the entrance. The building has an “L” layout, with a fine corner tower covered with a conical roof. The building name derives from the fact that here the Prince appointed the guards ensuring safety of the castle and town. The legend has it that the first “chosen” or “privileged” ones were the brigands pardoned by the prince, Eliasz and Pistulka, who are commemorated in the form of stone statues protecting the castle today.
