The Old Town has retained its traditional medieval layout. The centre is a vast market square, one of the biggest and most beautiful in south Poland. It is surrounded with nicely redecorated tenement houses dating back to 18th and 19th century. The boundaries of the medieval layout are marked by Warowna, Piwowarska and Basztowa streets. The most noteworthy of the historical market square buildings include: the “Warta” building with Brama Wybrańców, town hall, Catholic and Evangelical churches, as well as a former winery, called Frykówka.
